TEAM BUILDING

1. Arrive to Location

• Participants get to know each other with an icebreaker
• Everyone sets their goals for the day

2. Opening Circle

• Guides introduce themselves and outline the day to the group
• Leave No Trace principles are put into practice

3. Introduction to Race Rules

• Emphasize Safety First and Challenge by Choice
• Rules of each individual activity are shared
• Group is broken up into smaller teams

4. Adventure Race

• Complete multiple team building and adventure elements together as a team to finish the course
• Challenges may include conquering a rock wall, completing a bike or kayak relay, archery, an obstacle course, and more.

5. Closing Circle

• Acknowledge the accomplishments of the day
• Clean up

3. Introduction to the Survival Challenge

• Guides go over the rules of the challenge
• Group is divided into teams to complete a variety of survival scenarios
• The main goal of the activities is to allow participants to master key survival skills

4. Survival Challenge

• Upon the start of the Survival Challenge, all groups head into the trail at the same time
• Scenarios allow participants to learn about Signaling, Building Shelter, Finding/Purifying Water, Treating Hypothermia, Crossing Water, and Choosing Survival Equipment
• Groups are given six different challenges to complete fully
• As groups attempt each challenge, guides offer tips while allowing participants to improvise and learn
• Scenarios allow participants to learn about Signaling, Building Shelter, Finding/Purifying Water, Treating Hypothermia, Crossing Water, and Choosing Survival Equipment

5. Break

• Upon return to Home Base, groups are given time to decompress, get water, rest, and have open conversation

6. Closing Circle

• Each group gives a brief presentation, outlining major successes and challenges in completing the survival scenarios
• Acknowledge the accomplishments of the day
• Clean up

3. Introduction to Geocaching

• Emphasize Safety First and Challenge by Choice
• Nature safety orientation given to all participants, depending on location of the geocaching trip
• Participants may be split up into smaller teams, depending on size of the entire group
• GPS unit and trail map are provided to each group

4. Geocaching

• Route is almost entirely participant-driven, with guides offering advice but never giving away answers
• Groups are given a fixed amount of time to find all geocaches

5. Closing Circle

• All groups return to the starting location
• Each group summarizes their teamwork, roles, and challenges
• Acknowledge the accomplishments of the day
• Clean up
